Community Cafés

Enjoy delicious lunches in social settings across York and Cumberland counties.

Community Cafés are available in communities throughout Cumberland and York counties and provide participants an opportunity to socialize with other attendees while enjoying a delicious and nutritious lunch. Some Community Cafés also offer entertainment (such as bingo, games, and musical acts) or educational opportunities (such as speakers and resource tables).

Community Café Details

  • Cafés are open to Maine residents age 60 and older.
  • You may initially register by showing your license or proof of age.
  • Lunch is served at noon unless noted otherwise.
  • Days of service vary by location. See specific café for details.
  • Reservations are required. Please call the individual café at least 48 hours in advance. If you are unable to attend, please call to cancel your reservation.
  • The standard suggested donation per meal is $8. It can vary in the event of specialty meals so please contact the location directly for more information.
  • Meals are for on-site consumption only.
  • For participants under 60, individuals who do not want to register, or for out of state diners, you may enjoy the meal with us for full price.

What’s for Lunch?

Community Cafés offer both standard and catered meals depending on location and the day the program is being offered. Below are sample menus served at a Community Café. All meals come with a choice of coffee, tea, or milk and dessert is included.

Sample Standard Meals

  • Chicken with a red wine sauce, Lyonnaise potatoes, and sliced zucchini
  • Sweet and sour meatballs with sesame vegetable fried rice, and green beans
  • Pork with an apple an onion sauce, cranberry and lentil rice, and mixed vegetables
  • Fish Newberg with red skin mashed potatoes
  • Ham and pineapple with mashed sweet potatoes, corn, and green beans

Sample Catered Meals

  • Haddock with mashed potatoes and cole slaw
  • Lasagna with tossed salad, fruit, and garlic bread
  • BBQ hamburger, hot dog, or grilled chicken with pasta salad and
    cole slaw
  • Sausage and peppers, ziti with sauce, tossed salad, and garlic bread
  • Brunch – eggs, bacon or sausage, pancakes with syrup or hash browns, a muffin, and fruit
