Volunteer Services Supervisor
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging has an opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) Volunteer Services Supervisor based in our Scarborough, Maine office.  The Volunteer Services Supervisor oversees and supports volunteers; manages the recruitment, interviewing and placement of volunteers age 55 and older within community organizations and SMAA programs through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP); and works with community-based organizations to identify priority areas and develop volunteer opportunities.  The Supervisor maintains up-to-date knowledge of the current RSVP and volunteer management practices and serves as the primary organizer of annual training and enrollment events.  The Supervisor will perform public speaking engagements for Volunteer Services and will assist with the strategic development of the Service Enterprise Initiative. 
Education/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent in education and related work experience.
  • At least two years of prior experience working with older people and/or managing volunteers.
  • Strong belief in volunteering as a worthwhile endeavor for all people.
  • Capable of working as part of a team in an environment that is fast paced and ever-changing.
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
