Program Supervisor - Medicare Services
The Community Services program of the Southern Maine Agency on Aging has an opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) Medicare Services Supervisor based in our Scarborough, Maine office.  The Medicare Services Supervisor oversees the Medicare education and health insurance counseling services conducted by SMAA, which includes providing direct supervision/support of Medicare volunteers.  This position requires knowledge of current Medicare rules and practices as well as benefit and entitlement programs designed to assist low income older people and adults with disabilities.  The Medicare Services Supervisor represents SMAA in the community to help build relationships and partnerships with consumers, other providers and agencies.  In addition, this position will have a supervisory role in the coordination of grant-funded or other contacted services specific to Medicare.  Schedule may include occasional evening and/or weekend work to meet community needs.

Education/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • At least two years of community experience in working with older people and adults with disabilities, with demonstrated knowledge of resources and benefit programs related to health insurance and community resources.
  • At least one year of experience supervising and/or working with volunteers.
  • Ability to deliver presentations within the community regarding SMAA services and on topics related to Medicare and health insurance.
  • Capable of working as part of a team in an environment that is fast paced and ever-changing.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills needed to interact with a wide variety of staff, volunteers, community providers, etc.
